Outreach

Over the course of my academic career, I've had the opportunity to engage in various community outreach programs, whether it be professionally or voluntarily. In my freshman year, I was able to be a part of Clemson's Engineering for Developing Communities organization, whose objective is to utilize engineering knowledge and developmental tactics to attack existing societal and infrastructural problems in various communities around the world. Each student is placed into a project group, as mine for Spring of 2024 was Haitian Agricultural Development. With this project, our team was tasked to pinpoint the issue of food insecurity due to the massive amounts of imported goods by implementing a plan in Haiti to perform agricultural extension, using data and research findings to support our strategy. Our team worked alongside members of the Zamni Agrikol organization of the Central Plateau in Haiti to devise a course of action for improving agricultural self-sufficiency, which would assist in further developing the economy as well.

In addition to this, during the Spring of 2024, I was a camp ambassador for Clemson University's Learning Institute program in which middle and high school academically talented students had the opportunity to spend a weekend at a camp in Sunset, SC to learn and participate in activities centered around the university. With this title, I was able to lead tours, manage large groups of students and their needs, lead activities, speak to their parents, and to be a resource of information regarding the collegiate lifestyle.

As a PEER & WISE office assistant since August of 2024, I also had the opportunity to lead and participate in various outreach events held for prospective students throughout the semesters. During these events, we conducted educational activities while also ensuring a fun, engaging, and proactive environment for students to learn. and become interested in pursuing STEM at Clemson University. Among these responsibilities, the student staff took part in event set-up, clean-up, paneling, assistance with materials, and answering questions about Clemson, or the college experience in general.
